I will tell you what, there are people out there that really take the cake for making my life very challenging, not to mention my business. I am speaking about the general public. I find that many people see it as a right and not a privilege to shop at The Baby Daily. I have created something for my local customers to shop and enjoy themselves. What I get in return is often just plain rudeness and entitlement! Don’t get me wrong, most of my customers are wonderful supporters. We do have a list going of everyone we would like to ban from walking in the door. If you think you may be one of them keep reading!
I have customers all the time that try and nickel and dime my business on EVERYTHING. There is this misconception that the margin is just soooooo huge that we are making a killing….WRONG! Every percent that I reduce prices for the fun of it is right off the top and their aint much up there to begin with.
I ask this question….do you walk into a big box store like Wal Mart, Target, Sears, Home Depot, or Nordstrom and ask for a better deal? If not, why would you walk into a Mom and Pop and ask? Small business is often making much less margin than the big box businesses, offer better customer service and put more money right back into the local economy in comparison to the big box stores. We are expected to offer perfect customer service, work on a tighter margin, and still offer a better deal. Where’s the loyalty here! If everyone just tried to support one local business a week or even a month, it would make a huge difference in the landscapes of our city’s.
Take a look at this video and you will see what I mean. I think many people can relate to the vendors in these situations. I get this type of customer often enough to make me very cynical.
